Servings: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 2 ripe bananas, frozen and sliced – Ripe bananas make the smoothie naturally sweet and creamy.
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder – Deep chocolate flavor without added sugar.
  • 1 to 1 1/4 cups milk of choice – Dairy or non-dairy (almond, oat, soy, or coconut) all work.
  • 1–2 teaspoons maple syrup or honey for extra sweetness
  • 1 tablespoon peanut butter or almond butter for richness
  • A pinch of cinnamon or a splash of vanilla extract
  • A handful of ice if you want it extra frosty

Instructions

  • Prep your bananas: Peel and slice ripe bananas, then freeze them in a single layer for at least 2 hours or overnight. Frozen bananas are key for that thick, creamy texture.
  • Add ingredients to the blender: Place the frozen banana slices, cocoa powder, and 1 cup of milk into your blender.
  • Blend until smooth: Start on low speed, then increase to high. Blend until the mixture is creamy and no banana chunks remain, about 30–60 seconds depending on your blender.
  • Adjust texture and taste: If it’s too thick, add more milk a splash at a time. If you’d like it sweeter, add a little maple syrup or honey and blend again.
  • Serve immediately: Pour into a chilled glass. For a fun finish, dust with a pinch of cocoa powder or add a few banana slices on top.
